Well, vinyl is making a comeback. So, what better way to listen to your collection than the “world’s first” levitating turntable? We think yes.
Described as “turntable of the future for the medium of the past,” this is the MAG-LEV Audio levitating turntable. Utilizing magnets to suspend the platter in the air, the Mag-Lev defies the laws of gravity so that you can impress your friends.
Four feet support the platter when the turntable isn’t in use, then they retract into the base when listening. In the event that you lose power whilst listening, the system has a built-in uninterruptible power supply that will raise the tonearm and the feet so that your precious record doesn’t fall to its death.
The MAG-Lev Audio supports both 33.3 and 45-rpm modes, a Project 8.6 tonearm, and an Ortofon OM 5E cartridge.
You can currently back the company on Kickstarter, and you can become an early buyer for $780. The turntable will run $1,390 at retail when it is released. The company hopes to start shipping August 2017.
