We here at Vore are strictly against the use of cell phones whilst driving, and against distracted driving in all of its forms. So, we are glad that a company like Spotify, whom I love, is rolling out a new feature to reduce distractions when you want to play music in the car.
The Swedish streaming service has announced they are working on a new feature called ‘Driving Mode’ to reduce on-screen distractions and simplify the UI when you’re driving.
As first reported by The Verge, ‘Driving Mode’ encourages listeners to keep their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel at all times. We recommend you add music to a queue before you enter your vehicle, or just let it play from a playlist and not touch it. To activate the system, you select a car icon at the bottom of your screen, and it will make icons bigger and simplify everything to one page. The image below was provided by Reddit user Chris54721.
This is similar to Apple’s own “Do Not Disturb While Driving” but is tailored to Spotify. Currently, select users on Android has access to this feature, so we hope when it becomes available to test it out.
